Moveable Feast brings together four diverse musical talents that explore original works referred to as “eclectic, solid and funky… displaying a sense of fearlessness as it tweaks the jazz tradition”.
Forming in 1999, Moveable Feast modeled itself after those bands who chose to build a concept and sound together as a unit; much in the spirit of Miles Davis’ groups of the 60s, Weather Report, The Headhunters and The Art Ensemble of Chicago.
Bringing together the influences of jazz, funk, Latin, African and avant-garde, they are a Minneapolis supergroup of sorts. Moveable Feast is: drummer Kevin Washington (Poets’ Groove, Ra Spirit, Mississippi), saxophonist Peter Vircks (Midnight Love, Quintessence, Rhythmic Circus), bassist Jeff Bailey (James Carter, Doc Severinsen) and keyboardist Tommy Barbarella (Prince & the New Power Generation, Greazy Meal).
